My name is Jessica Matteliano. I’ve been writing stories since the day I learned to read, and I have many a silly text under my belt. My first written pieces was a series about a dog (inspired by Jack London and Jim Kjelgaard), then about a group of pegasuses (inspired by Fantasia), and then I began to “seriously” write around the age of 14. I first wrote mostly in the vein of fantasy and science fiction. I don’t think I’m cut out for mystery or horror, spine-tingling suspense/thrillers, or gushy love themes, but I do believe I’ve finally found my subjects of interest, which include science fiction, the supernatural, conspiratorial themes with some vague political and religious undertones.
My major writing influences include, but are not limited to: Dostoevsky, Gogol, HP Lovecraft, & Anne Rice.
My first completed novel, “The Red Forest” also titled as “The Story of Celso Riddle” is a great accomplishment for me; however, I am not 100% thrilled with it. It belongs to a series, but I do not feel it belongs in place as the first of the series. I suppose not every author is entirely exuberant over their first work. The more I write, the better I get, so for now I’ll have to push The Red Forest to the side and keep honing my craft. Follow my blog and accompany me on that journey towards being a “real” author!
